Facing the main house, the guest pavilion evokes the atmosphere of a summerhouse, with two bedrooms and a central living area facing a fertile equatorial garden courtyard dissected by lotus ponds and a swimming pool. Bedrooms feature custom furnishings including leather clad coffee tables, display tables, hand printed batik fabrics on the low slung four poster beds, bed ends and flat screen TVs. En suite bathrooms feature both Victorian style tubs and rain showers.

Open the doors of the garden spa and you’re immediately greeted by the wild yet reassuring scent of Scandinavian pine – that would be the sauna, by leading Swedish brand Tylo. Need to open those pores with some clouds of fragrant steam? The steam room is just steps away. Wrap things up with a dip in the ice-cold plunge pool followed by a leisurely session in the Jacuzzi.

Main House Ground: Gym, cinema, living & dining, kitchen, piazza.

Cool marble floors, a constellation of giant ceramic lampshades hanging above the stairwell, shallow pools filled with black river stones, antique Javanese doorways and wooden panels adorning the walls. This is Grand Cliff-Front Residence spacious reception area and the place from which guests first glimpse the mesmerising vista of ocean and sky through the villa’s glass frontage.

Gym & Cinema

The gym features state of the art, cardiovascular workout equipment and a full complement of free weights as well as exercise balls and yoga mats. The room next door is by contrast, dedicated to relaxation and entertainment – something easily achieved thanks to the surround sound 250cm x 150cm cinema screen and the five ergonomic leather chairs that recline at the push of a button.

Living, Dining, Veranda, Kitchen

Persian carpets lend warmth to the open plan living and dining area, with its high pitched ceilings and acres of cool marble. The living area features a plush contemporary sofa set alongside antique style rattan armchairs, strewn with cushions featuring William Morris style motifs. These are set around a teak coffee table and surrounded by four custom designed lamps. Amenities include Sony’s much-lauded 60-inch Bravia HD television and a fully automated invisible temperature control system. Walls feature large-scale paintings by famous contemporary Indonesian artists. The floor to ceiling glass frontage can be concertinaed open to create an unbroken gathering ground extending to the lap pool. The dining table is set with 10 chairs in rattan and blonde hardwood. There is a second 10-seat dining table on the veranda next to the 20m infinity pool, which features an inset Jacuzzi.

The Kitchen is packed with the latest SMEG appliances in sophisticated chrome, including espresso/cappuccino machine, dishwasher, oven and refrigerator.

Main House First Floor: Master bedroom and study, bedrooms 2&3.

Grand Cliff-Front Residence master bedroom features a private study that evokes a colonial atmosphere, with framed antique maps and natural history drawings, a desk and sofa. Beyond it, the master bedroom is dominated by a modern four-poster bed that feels as if it is about to float through the glass fascia and out over the ocean that lies beyond it. If that doesn’t happen, you can always take a reclining position on one the daybeds on the balcony. Furnishings include a leather bed stool, sofa, side-table. The spacious en suite bathroom offers the choice of a stand-alone Victorian bath, or separate rain shower.

The second bedroom also faces the ocean and boasts similar dimensions to the Master, as well as facilities including four-poster bed, a variety of colonial style prints, en suite bathroom and ocean facing balcony. The third bedroom faces inward and is characterised by light furnishings using rattan and other woven elements. All bedrooms feature wood panel ceilings, Sony Bravia flat screen TVs and en-suite bathrooms

Main House Top Floor: Massage Pavilion

On the third floor there perches a traditional bale pavilion complete with two massage tables. Like an eagle’s eyrie, there can be few more privileged places anywhere in the world to get rubbed up the right way.
